Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 cup dried banana chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Set the oven to “warm” or the lowest temperature available.
  2. Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray and place it in the warm oven.
  3. In a 2-quart heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then attach a candy thermometer and stir often until it reaches 300°F (150°C).
  5. Once it hits 300°F, remove from heat and stir in baking soda and butter until blended.
  6. Quickly mix in walnuts, banana chips, and vanilla until everything is coated.
  7. Take the cookie sheet out of the oven and pour the mixture onto it, spreading it thin using two buttered forks.
  8. Let it cool completely, then break into pieces and enjoy.
