- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 3/4 cup dried banana chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Set the oven to “warm” or the lowest temperature available.
- Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray and place it in the warm oven.
- In a 2-quart heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then attach a candy thermometer and stir often until it reaches 300°F (150°C).
- Once it hits 300°F, remove from heat and stir in baking soda and butter until blended.
- Quickly mix in walnuts, banana chips, and vanilla until everything is coated.
- Take the cookie sheet out of the oven and pour the mixture onto it, spreading it thin using two buttered forks.
- Let it cool completely, then break into pieces and enjoy.
