  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Once the butter has melted, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until they begin to soften and turn golden brown.
  3. Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce. Mix well and let it simmer gently for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  5. Add fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper to taste. Stir well and let it cook on low heat for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Finally, remove the skillet from heat and stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter for added richness.
  7. Serve the creamy mushroom sauce over perfectly cooked steak, drizzling generously on top.
