- 1 lb medium shrimp, deveined and tails removed
- 1 lb spaghetti noodles
- 6–8 garlic cloves, minced (to taste)
- 1/4 cup butter
- Olive oil (about 3 drizzles)
- Italian seasoning (to taste)
- Fresh ground pepper (to taste)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
- Fresh herbs (such as parsley or basil, to taste)
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add olive oil and fresh herbs. Cook the spaghetti noodles until tender. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining. Set the pasta aside.
- While the pasta is boiling, rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the shrimp to the pan.
- Cook the shrimp until they turn pink and start to curl, about 2-3 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and continue cooking for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Drizzle in a bit of olive oil to enhance the flavor and help coat the pasta later.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the shrimp. Sprinkle in your desired seasonings, including Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Gradually add the reserved pasta water until the dish reaches your desired consistency. Start with 1/4 cup and add more if needed.
- Gently toss all ingredients together in the skillet until everything is well combined and heated through. Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary.
