Description
A delicious and comforting dish featuring orzo pasta cooked with ground beef in a rich tomato cream sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), heavy cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the orzo pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the sauce, stirring occasionally.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- Adjust seasoning according to personal taste.
- Can substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a leaner option.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
