Description
Delicious Nutella Macarons with a rich chocolate shell and creamy Nutella buttercream filling.
Ingredients

- 100 grams egg whites
- 100 grams white sugar
- 105 grams almond flour
- 75 grams powdered sugar
- 14 grams cocoa powder
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (2 oz, 56 grams)
- 1/3 cup Nutella
- 2 cups powdered sugar (9 oz, 255 grams)
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2–4 tbsp milk (more or less, as needed)
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients and a large piping bag.
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Sift powdered sugar, almond flour, and cocoa powder together.
- Whisk egg whites and granulated sugar over simmering water until frothy and melted.
- Transfer mixture to a stand mixer and whisk until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in sifted dry ingredients gently.
- Test batter consistency, it should be glossy and flow easily.
- Transfer to piping bag and pipe onto templates.
- Let macarons sit for 20-40 minutes until dry to the touch.
- Bake at 300°F for 18-20 minutes, rotating trays halfway.
- Let macarons cool before filling.
- Make Nutella buttercream by creaming butter, adding Nutella, and incorporating powdered sugar and salt.
- Assemble macarons by piping filling between shells and drizzling melted chocolate on top.
Notes
- Store macarons in the fridge for up to 1 week.
- Freezing is possible for up to 2 months in an airtight container.
