- 1kg Yukon Gold potatoes (or Russet potatoes), peeled and cut into chunks
- 30g unsalted butter
- 150ml heavy cream (or milk for a lighter version)
- 6g fresh rosemary leaves, finely chopped (about 2 sprigs)
- 4g garlic, minced (2 cloves)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 12–15 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped rosemary to the butter and cook gently for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Remove from heat and set aside to infuse.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them well and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a potato ricer until smooth and creamy.
- Slowly pour the infused garlic and rosemary butter mixture into the mashed potatoes, stirring to combine. Gradually add the heavy cream (or milk), continuing to stir until the potatoes reach your desired level of creaminess. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs, if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with milk.
- Adjust the amount of garlic and rosemary according to your taste preference.
- These mashed potatoes can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
