Description

A delicious and hearty sandwich featuring smoked brisket, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted cheese, all packed into a toasted hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups smoked brisket, sliced or shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls, toasted
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • Optional toppings: pickled jalapeños, hot sauce, garlic aioli, mayo

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and bell peppers, cooking for 5–7 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.
  2. Add the smoked brisket to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook until the meat is heated through (about 3–5 minutes). If the brisket is dry, add a splash of beef broth or water to moisten it.
  3. Lower the heat, lay the cheese slices over the meat and veggie mixture, and cover the skillet with a lid or foil for a minute to melt the cheese.
  4. Split the toasted hoagie rolls and spoon the cheesy brisket mixture evenly into each one. Add extra toppings if desired.

Notes

  • Leftover smoked brisket works particularly well for this recipe.
  • Feel free to customize toppings based on personal preferences.
  • Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor if desired.
